羅漢面帶微笑,表情歡愉,靜坐禪觀,上身前傾,雙手置於膝上,衣紋線條簡約自然, 形象慈祥睿智,造型深具禪意和佛性。藉羅漢裸露上身的坐姿,完整而精確地表達東方人體結構的美感。以一種勻稱完美的體態,刻劃羅漢內心自在的慈悲精神。作品脊柱彎曲,背部渾圓,兩肩向前縮,軀幹略向前傾,使胸、腰、腹的輪廓線清楚顯現出來,左腿彎曲向內,右腿屈膝著地,執佛珠的雙手輕放膝上,手臂屈肌群隆起有序,四肢相互間的平衡對稱關係加強表達雕塑藝術的立體要求。

This smiling arhat looks cheerful and sits quietly in meditation. The upper part of his body leans slightly forward and his hands are on his knees. The drapery lines are simple and natural. The figure looks kind and wise and reveals a strong sense of Chan (zen) and Buddha nature. The beauty of body structure of easterners is completely and accurately expressed with the arhat’s naked upper body in a sitting poise. His inner qualities of compassion and mercy are depicted by means of his proportionate and perfect body. The curving spine, the round back, the shoulders that shrink forward and the body that leans slightly forward show clearly the outlines of the arhat’s chest, waist and abdomen. The left leg curves inward; the right knee bends and the right foot is on the ground; the hand holding prayer beads is on the bent knee; the arms are depicted carefully with muscles with hunches of muscles – the balance and symmetry in between the four limbs reinforce the three-dimensional expression required by the art of sculpture.
